Abscesses

An inflamed pocket of red tissue that has become filled with pus as the result of an infection. As the immune system attempts to fight off the infection white blood cells rush to the affected area which can cause the formation of a hole or pocket which becomes filled with pus. These pockets can form anywhere in the body but are typically found on the skin’s surface. If gone untreated, abscesses can become extremely painful, sometimes even debilitating.
