Apnea Monitors

Apnea occurs when an individual’s breathing is paused during sleep. Pauses can vary in length of time and long pauses can have damaging side effects to the body which is why individuals with apnea are typically required to wear an apnea monitor while asleep. This monitor is a device that contains sensors, which observe and track physiological data that is then passed to and analyzed by a micro-computer system. This system utilizes the data collected to determine if apnea is taking place based on changes in airflow to and from the lungs as well as thoracic blood volume.
