Cerebral Palsy

A group of non-progressive syndromes that cause spasticity, ataxia, impaired voluntary movement, or involuntary movement. Symptoms of Cerebral Palsy show up in children prior to the age of 2 as the result of either developmental malformations obtained prior to birth or damage caused to the central nervous system during or after birth. There are several different treatment options based on which syndrome(s) is present including physical/occupational/drug therapy, braces, and in some cases orthopedic surgery.
