Congenital Heart Defects

A condition that someone is born with which affects the way their heart functions. Congenital Heart Defects can disrupt the blood’s ability to flow from the heart to the rest of the body. Some defects are mild and can be treated early on in life while others are more severe and may require surgery. In babies, Congenital Heart Defects can cause troubled breathing, a blue tint to the nails or lips, and uncharacteristic tiredness.
