Delayed Speech or Language Development

Stages of development can vary greatly depending upon each individual child however, there are certain speech and language milestones parents and doctors can expect to see from a normally developing child. If a child’s speech or language development is delayed it means that they are not reaching the expected milestones for their age group when they should be. These delays could be caused by many different factors such as oral impairment, oral-motor problems, hearing problems, and even chronic ear infections.
