Pre/Post Organ Transplant Care

Care that is provided to patients receiving an organ from a donor after experiencing failure of their own. Prior to an organ transplant, recipients are screened to determine if they are a good candidate for the procedure based on their medical history, current medical status, and other factors relating to their likelihood of having a successful transplant. After a candidate is selected for an organ transplant and undergoes the procedure they are immediately placed into post-operative care to ensure that the organ is not rejected and that there are no signs of other potential post-operative complications.
